I HAVE A WEBSITE BECAUSE

I didn’t want anyone else using this domain name.

I quite understand that a website is a useful marketing tool.

But what mine is, more than anything else, is a place for me to get comfortable with the first person. First person is a very handy voice these days, what with all the confessional journalists about. I don’t really want to confess anything. If I did, I would make more of an effort to be received into the Catholic church. But whilst we are on that subject, it is my hope that I will one day overcome my Augustinian reluctance. In the meantime, if you should chance to see me expiring on a roadside somewhere, please do me a favour and get me a priest, to whom I can express my most solemn intention.

There, now you know a little bit more about me than I feel comfortable with, and it’s all been in the first person so far.
